Leaves of Latmos

Describe your art.
I'm an illustrator and poet creating original portraits and figurative pieces. My work draws on classic art traditions as well as modern, graphic sensibilities. My present focus is on pairing sequences of orignal poems and illustrations, in the tradition of Dante Gabriel Rossetti or Japanese ukiyo-e print series. Through my imprint, Leaves of Latmos, I offer original small-format artworks such as prints and booklets.

Who or what inspires you?
My strongest visual art influences are from the Classical, Renaissance, and Romantic periods; in particular, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, the Vienna Secession, the Symbolist, and the Decadent movements, as well as Japanese ukiyo-e prints and East Asian silk painting.
For literary influences, I draw on Greco-Roman mythology, Arthurian legend, fairy tales, Shakespeare, and the Romantic, Victorian, and Modernist poets.

What is your favorite medium to work with?
Marker on paper.

What's a fun fact about you?
I'm half Romanian (hence my last name), and earlier this year I visited the country for the second time.
